Loutit District Library (LDL) is committed to providing a safe environment for our visitors, presenters, performers, volunteers, and staff. As our community, state, and nation work to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we want you to know that we are doing our part to contain and help eliminate this virus.

Beginning Saturday, March 14, LDL will be closed for the foreseeable future, including all bookdrops. To further prevent the spread of the virus, we ask that you hang onto checked out items until we reopen.

Don’t forget that your LDL library card provides you with 24/7 access to digital downloads — books, magazines, movies, TV shows, music, etc. Don’t have an LDL card? Contact us at [email protected] or via Facebook, and we’ll set you up with a temporary card to use while we’re closed.

And, remember, the library is a fine-free facility – no late fees for overdue items. If you are ill and cannot return borrowed items on time, do NOT worry about it. It’s OK! If you have a hotspot checked out, it will remain active during this time.

This situation is dynamic and constantly changing. Please check the library’s Facebook page, social media and here for updates. For information on COVID-19, please visit the Ottawa County Department of Public Health, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC. Also, please be aware of COVID-19 scams.

Thank you for understanding. Stay home, stay healthy!

John Martin, Library Director
