Cozy up with a book in your favorite nook!
Cozy up with a book in your favorite nook! We challenge our community to read and log at least 300 minutes (5 hours) from January 1 – 31. 📖📚 You’ll earn awesome prizes for logging your minutes and reviewing the books you read. Feel free to participate using the Beanstack app or with a paper reading log.
For completing the challenge, kids will get a limited edition LDL “Read Books Eat Pizza” button and sticker, and adults will get a Free Carwash coupon to the Grand Haven Quality Carwash. ✨ You’ll also get 5 drawing tickets to enter in to earn free pizza from one of your favorite local pizza parlors. 🍕 We have over 50 free pizzas to give away, so the odds are in your favor! Submit book reviews for the awesome books you read throughout the challenge for extra drawing tickets. 🗳️
The Basics
Log your reading and activities to earn badges throughout the challenge. Any type of reading counts for your minutes. You can read a magazine, eBook, graphic novel, or newspaper or listen to an audiobook! It’s that simple!
Not sure what to read? Check out a book from one of our Staff Picks lists! After that, try one of the books on our digital and physical displays or ask for a recommendation from a library staff member.
Earn Prizes
For reading 300 minutes and completing the challenge, kids will get a limited edition LDL “Read Books Eat Pizza” button and sticker, and adults will get a Free Carwash coupon to the Grand Haven Quality Carwash. These finisher prizes will be available on Monday, January 6, at the Youth Services and Reference & Information desks.
Logging your reading and submitting book reviews also gets you tickets for our free pizza drawings. Completing the reading challenge earns you five tickets, and every book review you submit earns you an additional ticket. Winners will be contacted by Friday, February 7.
We have over 50 free pizza coupons to give away, so the odds are in your favor. Enter in tickets for your favorite pie in town! Choose from Lombardo’s, Jet’s Pizza, Domino’s, Hungry Howie’s, Mr. Scrib’s, and more. Each pizza place is offering a different type of prize, so be sure to read the Beanstack prize descriptions to find the free ‘za you want most!
