This year’s Summer Reading Club theme is “Build a Better World.” It runs from June 12th -July 28th.
Our club encourages kids of all ages to read during the summer by simply earning prizes as they read with chances to win bigger prizes in a club end drawing. Prizes include an ice cream cone to Sweet Temptations, a personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut, passes to Dutch Village, Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, Whitecaps Baseball or Griffins Hockey, and a book to keep when finished! Drawing prizes include Lego sets, prize bags, gift cards to community businesses, a bike!, and Grand Prize drawing prizes through Maranda at WOTV4 for family memberships to John Ball Zoo and Grand Prize Drawing for a Great Lakes Crossings Grand prize package including $400 shopping spree, 4 one day passes to LegoLand Discovery Center Michigan, 4 one day passes to Sea Life Michigan, and one overnight stay for four guests at a partner hotel.

Touch a Truck

June 19, 10 am-12 pm 4th Street parking lot.  Take an up-close look at the trucks and other vehicles that help build our community!

Meet Up and Eat Up Ice Cream Social Kickoff!

June 19, Noon –1 pm. Lunch for Kids preschool-18 yrs. There will be a Sweet Temptations Ice Cream Social dessert for the first 300 –All ages!


 The World in Our Hands- A Guided Journey in Story and Song with Storyteller Bob Kanegis

June 22, 10:30 am. Stories for All Ages.


John Ball Zoo

June 28, 11 am. A Traveling Zoo program with live animals and animal biofacts.


Monsters with Aaron Zenz

July 6, 2 pm. Hear about Zenz’s book Monsters Go Night-Night and get inspired to draw your own monsters.


Sylvan STEM Workshop

July 12, 2 pm. Explore stations for coding (game design), robotics (with legos) and math with Sylvan Learning Center.


Building with MakeDo

July 13, 2pm. Create an architectural or sculptural masterpiece out of cardboard to display in the library with the great people from the MSU Extension office.


Stormy’s Better Builder Magic Show

July 18, 10:30 am. A fun and funny Magic Show!


Geodes: What They Are, How They Are Formed and Where They Are Found

July 25, 10:30 am. Learn all about Geodes and get one to keep!
