Loutit District Library is pleased to partner with the NEA Big Read Lakeshore, an annual month-long community-wide reading program that takes place every November. Run by Hope College in collaboration with many partner organizations, the NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) designed to broaden our understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book.
This year’s Big Read selection is In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex by Nathaniel Philbrick.
Read any of the Big Read or Little Read Lakeshore books — Galapagos Girl or In the Heart of the Sea (young readers edition or adult edition) — or watch the movie. Come together on Zoom and chat about what we read or watched at 6:30 pm on November 12. Registration is required. Registrants will receive an email with a Zoom link prior to the event. For grades 5th through adult! Enjoy our NEA Little Read Lakeshore Galapagos Girl Storywalk November 7-14 at Rosy Mound. Check out other Big Read and Little Read events up and down the lakeshore! For an event calendar and more information, check the Big Read website.
