Library Assistant II – Youth (Part Time)

Loutit District Library seeks an organized and energetic individual to work 28 hours per week in Youth Services. The position involves extensive work with the public, especially children, in answering questions, recommending books, and assisting with the online catalog. The primary functions of this job include reference and reader’s advisory services, assisting with youth programs, and collection development.

Schedule: The schedule for this position includes some evenings and weekend rotations.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, computer proficiency, and a flexible schedule required. Public library experience preferred.

Compensation: Hourly wage for this position is $16.00 per hour.  This position includes PTO, vacation, sick time, and paid holidays.

Library Aide I – Circulation (Part-time, Temporary) 

Loutit District Library is seeking an energetic individual to work 24 hours per week in the Circulation department from early May through August 19. Primary job functions include: checking in, sorting, and shelving materials, emptying the book drops and ensuring the collections are in order through regular shelf-reading. Additional duties include: providing guidance to volunteer shelvers, processing interlibrary loan deliveries, and assisting patrons at the Check-Out Desk as needed.

Schedule: The schedule for this position will include evenings and weekend rotations.

Qualifications: Must be at least 14 years of age. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, some evenings, and weekends. Customer service experience is desired.

Compensation: Starting wages are $10.10 per hour.

Library Assistant II – Reference & Information (Part Time)  

Do you enjoy solving information mysteries and going down Google rabbit holes? Are you the go-to person in your friend group for recommending books and movies? Do you want to make a difference by building relationships in your community? If you answered yes to these questions, you may be the perfect candidate to join the Reference & Information team at Loutit District Library. The position works 30 hours per week and involves extensive work with the public in answering questions, recommending library materials, and providing technology assistance.

Schedule: The schedule for this position will include evening and weekend rotations. 

Qualifications: Four years of undergraduate experience from an accredited college or university. Alternative to traditional educational attainment would be three or more years of experience in customer or public service. Computer proficiency and a flexible schedule are required. Public library experience preferred. Proficiency in a language other than English is highly desired.

Compensation: Hourly rate for this position is $16.00 per hour. This position includes PTO, vacation, and sick time.
