 Library Aide I – Circulation (24 Hours) (2 Openings)

Loutit District Library seeks an energetic individual to work 24 hours per week in Circulation Services. Primary job functions include checking in, sorting, and shelving materials; emptying the book drops, and ensuring the collections are in order through regular shelf-reading. Additional duties include directing volunteer shelvers, processing interlibrary loan deliveries, and filling in for brief periods at the Check-Out Desk in the absence of assigned staff

Schedule: The schedule for this position will include evening and weekend rotations.

Qualifications: Must be at least 14 years of age. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, some evenings, and weekends. Experience with the public is preferred.

Compensation: Hourly rate for this position is $11.10 per hour and includes PTO, vacation, sick time, and paid holidays.

 Library Assistant II – Reference & Information (Part-Time)

Do you enjoy solving information mysteries and going down Google rabbit holes? Are you the go-to person in your friend group for technology questions? Do you want to make a difference by building relationships in your community? If you answered yes to these questions, you may be the perfect candidate to join the Reference & Information team at Loutit District Library. The position works 30 hours per week and involves extensive work with the public in answering questions, using genealogy databases, and providing technology assistance.

Schedule: The schedule for this position will include evening and weekend rotations.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Alternative to traditional educational attainment would be three or more years of experience in customer or public service. Computer proficiency and a flexible schedule are required. Public library and
customer service experience is highly preferred. Proficiency in a language other than English is highly desired.

Compensation: Hourly rate for this position is $17.00 per hour. This position includes PTO,
vacation, sick, and paid holiday time.

Building Services Technician (Full-Time)

Loutit District Library seeks a dependable, organized, and knowledgeable self-starter to lead the day-to-day activities in the Building Services Department. Under the supervision of the Library Director, this position performs a wide variety of duties related to the safe and efficient operation of the library building and grounds. Primary functions of this position include: general and preventative maintenance and repairs, inventory management, coordinating services with outside vendors, and partnering with library staff on projects and room setup.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Two or more years of maintenance experience in a large facility. Possesses a valid Michigan driver’s license. Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, including the ability to be on-call for building-related emergencies, is required for this position.

Compensation: Starting wage for this position is $19.00 per hour. Includes a generous benefit package (medical, dental, vision, cell phone reimbursement, PTO, vacation, sick, and paid holiday time).
